 My personal presentation 馃尰馃尰馃尰馃尰

My name is Lina Guti茅rrez and I was born in Sincelejo, Sucre, on October 1, 1992. I’m a sign language interpreter with a deep passion for what I do. Right now, I’m studying at SENA to continue strengthening my skills as a Colombian Sign Language interpreter.
I work with the Government of C贸rdoba, in a school named Palmira, where I support two deaf students. I’m 33 years old, and every day I am reminded why I chose this path.

I love sign language because it is essential for building an inclusive society. It allows me to connect with a beautiful and rich culture. It also helps develop cognitive abilities like visual memory and coordination. Through my work, I’m proud to contribute to breaking down social and cultural barriers.

Thank you for reading and being part of this journey toward a more accessible world for everyone!

Activities 馃帶

One of the activities I enjoyed the most was presenting and recommending a tourist place. I liked it because it allowed me to use different verb tenses and put my communication skills in English into practice. It was also a great opportunity to work on the present perfect, past participles, adjectives, and comparatives.

In addition, the activity pushed me to improve my pronunciation, which I consider essential for my progress. Without a doubt, it was a creative, fun, and very enriching experience for my learning process.

Another piece of evidence I really enjoyed was the activity where I had to write a text and record an audio about my perspective on my job, my duties, and responsibilities. In this task, I used the simple present, simple past, the modal verb can, the semi-modal have to, and some conditional structures.

This activity was more demanding because it involved more grammar topics and a longer written production. It also required me to work on my pronunciation, which helped me improve my listening and speaking skills in English. Without a doubt, it was a very complete and helpful exercise to continue strengthening my learning.

Critical thinking 馃挱

Critical thinking is the ability to analyze, evaluate, and interpret information objectively before accepting it or making a decision. It involves asking questions, seeking evidence, comparing different points of view, and using logical reasoning to form well-supported conclusions. People who use critical thinking do not accept information blindly; they reflect, question, and make judgments based on facts, not assumptions.

One example of critical thinking is the videos that circulate on social media about cats saving children. One video that caught my attention showed a cat confronting a bear. Later I discovered it had been created with artificial intelligence and was completely fake. I reflected on it and realized a cat doesn’t have that kind of ability.

That’s why we must be careful with what we see on social media and not believe the first thing we read or watch. We should analyze information critically, ask whether it’s true or false, and reach a well-founded conclusion instead of accepting false claims.
